I really liked "My Cousin Jeremy" so was interested in reading this. I was not disappointed. Again, great character development and capturing of a variety of emotions. The book description doesn't do it justice. I am looking forward to reading the next 2 books in the series.The only flaws in the book were relatively minor editing lapses - primarily some inconsistencies with " marks. Nothing serious enough to distract from the story, although a couple of times I had to reread a paragraph to see where dialog ended/began.

An enjoyable read. It can be slow going in the beginning, but it becomes quite satisfying in the end. If long-drawn out romances are indeed one of your favorite plot devices, then this book is definitely for you. It's realistic but doesn't force the romance down your throat. Most historical novels have an awful tendency to talk too much about the historical surroundings, but this book does an excellent job with focusing more on the actual plot. Definitely worth reading!
I am halfway through this book and had to come to to see if there will be a sequel. Yes, there is! I love reading about this era. I am reminded somewhat of the style of Rosamond Pilcher and Emily Loring. I am savoring this book and finding it very hard to put down.
